Life Update + Hair Care Routine

Hey y’all! It’s been a while since I’ve posted..

I’ve been working on something really exciting. I’m starting a wedding planning business called “Laurel Crowned Weddings + Events”. I really think that I was missing wedding planning an abnormal amount (lol), and after helping to plan my sisters wedding, which was this past weekend, I thought “Why not start my own wedding planning business?” I’m so excited about this and I guess we’ll just see where it goes! So if you, or you know anyone who is engaged- send them my way! I have a page on my website under the menu called “Laurel Crowned Weddings + Events” that has all the information on my packages. I also have a rather large collection of some beautiful and rustic wedding décor items that I am going to rent out- but if you book with me, they’re free!

So enough about that.. on to my hair care routine! I treat hair care like skin care- I value it.

The first thing I will say is that I do not wash my hair every day. I wash it maybe every 2-3 days. Sometimes more than that.. sometimes less. It just depends on my workout! What I have learned about washing my hair often is that it really dry’s your hair out, and the oil in your hair is actually good for it (unless you go a really gross, abnormal amount of time without washing it.. then that’s just gross).

My hair does get oily after a day or two, so I do use dry shampoo. The dry shampoo I use is the Kristin Ess Revitalizing Dry Shampoo. I believe it is only at Target, unless you get it online. It is a little pricey at $14 for a bottle, but it has no gross dry shampoo odor (like most of them do), and it really does not make your hair extremely white (like most of them do). It smells amazing and feels so good on my hair! I splurge a little on this dry shampoo because the price is worth the quality of it, as some dry shampoo’s are cheap, smell awful, leave your hair white, and do not even work.

*Side note – I know people who know that washing your hair everyday is not good for it, but say they can’t NOT wash it everyday because it gets greasy after 1 day. I always say that you have to “train” your hair. This sounds funny, but it’s true because you do really have to train it by going another day without washing it than you normally would, and use dry shampoo, and the more you do this, your hair will get used to not being washed as much, and will not get as greasy as fast.

For my shampoo and conditioner, I also use the Kristin Ess “The One” Signature Shampoo and Conditioner. Each bottle is $10, which is also a little pricey for shampoo I guess, but like I said before- the price is worth the quality. It is also only at Target. I noticed a serious difference in my hair when I first began using it. My hair is silkier, shinier, and it smells AMAZING. I refuse to use anything else now because of how much I love this stuff.

Also, this post is not sponsored by Kristin Ess (lol) I just seriously love her products.

So… once a week I do a hair mask. I use the Kristin Ess (of course hahaha) Strand Strengthening Reconstructive Moisture Mask. Ommggggg I am obsessed with this stuff. It’s $14 (at Target) and is my fair hair product in the world. I shower and wash my hair, get out of the shower, put the mask the lower part of my hair, leave it on for an hour (the longer you leave it the better it works), then I get back in the shower and wash it off. I notice an immediate difference after I use the mask because I’m probably being a drama queen (as usual), but my hair feels like it should be in a commercial. The mask makes my hair feel so soft, and silky, and nourished. I’m obsessed with this stuff.

I either shower in the mornings or at night, but I always let my hair air dry. I HATE blow drying my hair because I feel like it just absolutely kills it, and makes it frizzy. But, that’s just me! When I am doing my hair, I always put in the Kenra Platinum Luxe One Leave-In spray. This stuff is amazing and it is Kenra’s newest product. I put it in my hair when I just got out of the shower and it is damp, and when my hair is dry and I am about to curl it- It works as a heat protectant! Also, it makes my hair style so well, takes away any frizz, and makes it shine like it’s nobody’s business. The Kenra Platinum Luxe One Leave-In is available for $22 at Ulta.

After I curl my hair, I put a teeny bit of hair spray on the curls before I brush them out, just so my hair stays styled longer. I am not a HUGE fan of hair spray because I hate the way a lot of it feels on my hair, but the Kenra Perfect Medium Spray keeps my hair held well, but is so light it does not really feel like hairspray is in my hair.

Those are all the products I use for my hair! Thank you guys for reading, and I hope you all had a Happy Easter!

Let me know your thoughts! J

Have a blessed day!
